#planthro proposes to understand and plan human-Earth interaction with a broad-base approach, merging perspectives from academia, economy, society, and technology.

#planthro offers means & methods to integrate anthropocene content, community, data, and debate, in order to manage the global challenges of human impact, adaptation, climate change mitigation, sustainable growth, and global welfare.

  • 2015-ongoing

    Corporate Development

    Organized a team of 20+ volunteers located globally, validated ideas with and secured endorsements from leading experts, set up a not-for-profit private operating foundation in New York State, applied for tax exemption, drafted out organization’s strategy, and administrative & legal structure.

  • 2016-ongoing


    A digital repository of references, and bibliography on human-Earth interactions. Information in made accessible to individuals and organizations across sectors. Content covers scientific and popular publications, governance reports, talks, MOOCs, documentaries and more.

  • 2017-ongoing


    Broad-base social media outreach over multiple channels. Consistently created and broadcasted content, also including an original educational podcast and a quarterly newsletter to sensitize and draw-in subscriber base, and also update followers & stakeholders on internal progress and developments.

Future directions

  • 2019-ongoing


    Multilingual wiki of 10k+ articles on the anthropocene epoch and related issues, open to contributions and synchronised to wikipedia; series of blogs presenting personal opinions of invited experts as authors; online exchange forum fostering delibration between communitites.

  • late 2020 onwards


    Online data repository of thousands of anthropocene and sustainability databases – quantitative and qualitative (such as from UNDP, IMF, World Bank). Data to be made available as 'model ready'. Analytics suite to include in-situ modeling and visualisation, to produce simulations and infographics.

  • 2021 onwards


    Workshops, seminars and conferences to advance the state of knowledge, discussion, and trans-disciplinary collaboration on human impacts and sustainability. Output to be made available as reports, scientific publications, and web-content. Eventual aim to have a dedicated institute servicing this.

Andrea is the lead subject matter expert and chief editor. His expertise is long-term study of human-environment interaction, and integrated qualitative & quantitative modeling of complex socio-ecological systems. He holds a PhD in Archaeology & Anthropology from the University of Cambridge. Andrea lives in Geneva.

Vasavi Vittal

Vasavi is leading the strategy and corporate development functions. She has 10+ years of experience in finance, strategy, investment management and investment advisory. She holds Masters in Biochemistry from the University of Maryland, and MBA from the University of Oxford. Vasavi lives in London, UK.

Madhura Chikhalikar

Madhura advises on corporate finance, compliance, and legal matters. She has 10+ years of experience with large corporations in audit, compliance, financial control, and CFO office functions. He worked as a research engineer at University of Cambridge, and later built a career & a consulting business in analytics & scientific computing. Eesha creates bite-sized, consumable social media content & communication. She also works in client services team for Allianz. She is an undergrad student of Media, Public Relations, and Advertising, at the University of New South Wales. Eesha live in Sydney, Australia.

Pallavii is the editor. She has worked in market research focused on technology in emerging markets. She holds a Masters degree in English Honors from Lady Sriram College, New Delhi. Pallavii also volunteers for local non profits and lives in Newton, Boston.

Naresh Mulchandani
